“The Woman’s Missionary Union (WMU) has been an active mission’s organization at St. John’s Baptist Church in Virginia Beach, Virginia for about a hundred years. Women have been an integral part of leading the cause for mission activities in our church and throughout the Southern Baptist Convention. WMU has been active in raising funds for the support of missionaries during the life of St. John’s. Currently, they meet WMU meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 10:00 am in the Ruth classroom. All women are invited to a morning of fellowship, missionary study, and prayer. Also, this is a time of planning and preparing for various mission projects. Each month we are involved in a different mission activity. As the song “We’ve a Story to Tell” says, we really do take seriously the mandate from Jesus Himself– “Go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19-20). The goal of all our activities WMU is for that purpose–spreading the good news of Jesus Christ to our community, our state, our country and our world. Below are a few of our mission activities. Thank you to St. John’s Baptist Church for your continued support of our WMU ministries.” -Becki, WMU Director
